Opera voices resonate in Kobe's former foreign settlement.

International opera singer Eriko Sumiyoshi, who graduated at the top of her class from the Milan Verdi Conservatory and has won top prizes in numerous international competitions, will perform. Please enjoy the opera voices that will fill the former foreign settlement.

Graduated at the top of her class from the Milan Verdi Conservatory. She has won top prizes in numerous international competitions, including the PMongini International Vocal Competition. Starting with a festival at the Palazzo Calesonico in Venice, she is based in Milan and has performed as a lead in opera houses throughout Europe, including Spain and France, receiving high praise from local media. She was the first Japanese person to be invited to perform at the Taormina Open-Air Theatre Opera Gala. She sang both the Japanese and Italian national anthems at the first celebration of the Emperor's birthday hosted by the Japanese Consulate in Milan in the Reiwa era. She played the lead role in all performances of the commemorative performance, La Traviata, and subsequent performances at the Costa Bianca Open-Air Theatre in Sicily. In Japan, she has performed at numerous venues including the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Kioi Hall, Izumi Hall, Orix Hall, and Hyogo Performing Arts Center. She also captivated an audience of 2,000 with a recital at the Kobe International Conference Center, featuring Francesco Meli, a world-renowned singer. In 2022, she was selected to perform the lead role in the opera La Traviata, conducted by Yutaka Sado and sponsored by the city of Kobe. Furthermore, in 2025, she was selected to perform in Italy's Capital of Culture performances, where she gave a highly acclaimed duo recital with world-renowned tenor José Cura at the Teatro Pirandello. In Sicily, she received the prestigious Golden Leopard Award, given to musicians and cultural figures. In her hometown of Kobe, she also received the Han-Don no Kai Arts and Culture Award.
